Merylle-Lee has been painting in the South Shore area of MA since early childhood. After graduating with a B.S. in Education from the Massachusetts College of Art, she also studied at the Torpedo Art Factory in Alexandria, VA during a journey that took her from New Jersey, to Alton, IL, Norfolk, VA, Washington, DC, etc. Finally she arrived back home to Cape Cod.
Although she expresses her art in many mediums, at present she has been concentrating on pastel and watercolor. Pastels have a rich pigment and textural quality allowing for a great contrast and drama.
Merylle-Lee's subjects are common objects and landscapes which become jewel-like in the light. As a plein-air artist she focuses on color and the effects of light on color. Her work is in many corporate and private collections. She is an artist member of several Art Associations and has won many awards in juried competitions. She has exhibited throughout the East Coast in group and one-man shows and in several joint shows with her husband, Phill Thompson,.
Merylle-Lee has studied with many well-known artists, including: Rosalie Nadeau, Paul Laveille, Carlton Plumber, Charles Mahoney, Bob Cormier, Roz Farbush, Peter Spatero, Marshal Joyce and "Sir Charles" Sovek, to mention a few.
